Nintendo announced it will launch an updated version of the 3DS XL handheld next month that features more control options and built-in near-field communication (NFC).

The New Nintendo 3DS XL will be available for $199.99 starting February 13. It will be available in red and black. Nintendo is also launching a gold model inspired by the classic game The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask as well as a fourth silver model available only at GameStop based on Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

The latest version of the 3DS including face-tracking 3-D that Nintendo says will maintain a consistent viewing experience from any angle. There’s also a new “C stick” that sits near the four face buttons, and ZL and ZR buttons along the top.

The inclusion of NFC support means this 3DS model will support amiibo, Nintendo’s line of collectible figures players can bring to life inside a video game. The figures will be supported in brawler Super Smash Bros. 3DS. The device also includes upgrades to the camera and processing performance.

As for amiibo, which launched last holiday, Nintendo says a new line of figures based on the Super Mario franchise will arrive March 20. They include Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi and Bowser. Additional characters including video game icon Pac-Man will arrive this spring.
