Do you drive a sporty-utility Nissan? Well, you may want to make sure it hasn’t been recalled. Nissan Motor Company announced Wednesday that they are recalling nearly 768,000 vehicles from around the world to fix problems with faulty hood latches, and electrical shorts that could cause a fire.

Faulty hood latches caused for a recall of almost 216,000 Nissan Pathfinders made in 2013-2014, Infiniti JX35s made in 2013 and Infiniti QX60s made in 2014. The secondary hood latch is able to stay open even when the hood is closed. If the main latch were to fail it could cause the hood to fly open while the vehicle is being driven.

Regarding the faulty hood latches, Nissan reported that there had been damages to hoods, but no injuries or accidents had been reported.

The recall for electrical shorts includes more than 552,000 small Rogue SUVs modeled in the years from 2008-2013 and Rogue Select SUVs from 2014. Snow or water is able to seep through the carpet of your car on the driver’s side, down to a wiring harness causing electrical shorts.

A spokesman from Nissan reported Wednesday morning that there had been no crashes or injuries due to the wiring issue.

Dealers will replace the secondary hood latch for free and will inspect wiring and replace it or seal it.

Two Nissan dealerships in the Salt Lake City area confirmed that any time there is a Nissan recall, the repairs are 100 percent free and there is no cost to the customer.

Along with Nissan, Ford Motor Company is recalling about 221,000 vehicles to repair issues with seatbelts and door latches.
