Weekend Box Office: “Compton” Leads as New Films Underperform

August 24, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – “Straight Outta Compton” is still number one for the second week taking in $26.8 million. It’s Universal’s thirteenth weekend with a film in the number one position. The biopic has a total of $111.4 million since its release date.

Tom Cruise is in second place as “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” garners $11.7 million. The film has a grand total of $157.7 million for the four weeks it has been in release.

$10.6 million falling way short of the $18 million it was expected to bring in.

“Hitman: Agent 47” is at number four, opening with $8.2 million.

At number five, “The Man From Uncle” has taken in $7.4 million it’s second week out. The 60’s series update has a total of $26.6 million.

In sixth place, “American Ultra,” The Jesse Eisenberg/ Kristen Stewart film brought in an underwhelming $5.5 million it’s debut weekend.
