Zach Efron Has the Fourth Worst Box Office Opening —- Ever!

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA – August 31, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — The tickets have been counted and the results are in.

“We Are Your Friends” starring Zac Efron is officially the Fourth worst wide release box office opener of all time.

The movie, which opened Friday, is about an up and coming DJ who has to juggle his career and romance. The movie opened on 2,300 screens across the US.

“We Are Your Friends” took in just $1.8 million total nationwide making it the 4th worst opening according to Box Office Mojo.

Warner VP of domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein told The Hollywood Reporter, “This was a passion project for Zac Efron, and we believe in him,”  Goldstein continued “Yes, the result was disappointing, but this was a small film.”

Topping Box office Mojo’s worst list  are the 2012 movie “The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure,”  which had the worst opening of all time, earning just $443,901.

And 2008’s animated film “Delgo” opened to $511,920.

For the third weekend in a row “Straight Out of Compton” topped the weekend adding $3.8 million to its coffers. The film has a three-week total of $134.1 million.
