LONDON, Sept. 9 (UPI) — The 18th annual GQ Men of the Year Awards took place in London Tuesday celebrating over 400 men who represent GQ from the best in film, television, music and sports.

Hosted by Avengers: Age of Ultron star Samuel L. Jackson, the Royal Opera House event was highlighted by Paul Rudd, who took home the most coveted title of the night, winning the leading man award for his turn as Scott Lang in Marvel’s Ant-Man.

In his acceptance speech, the 46-year-old said: “I’m so touched, truly, to be here and to be accepting this… I love GQ magazine and I always have. When I was 15-years-old, I got a year’s subscription for Christmas… [So] that GQ would recognize me as someone that could [represent this], I really appreciate it.”

The other big winner of the night, Sam Smith, took home a GQ Award for solo artist of the year following his four Grammy wins back in February. On Monday the singer confirmed on Twitter his involvement in writing and singing the theme song for the latest James Bond film, Spectre.

Smith spoke about the song entitled Writing’s On The Wall on the red carpet saying “I’ve been keeping it a secret for a year. I just lied, I don’t think I lied very well. I wanted to get the song perfect before I confirmed in my mind that this was actually happening. Which I still kind of haven’t done.”

Other winners include The Late Late Show host James Corden winning an award for TV Personality of the year, Christopher Waltz winning actor of the year, Will Ferrell with a comedian of year win, and Lionel Richie who received an Icon Award.

GQ’s award show wasn’t just for men however. Plenty of the biggest female stars in the entertainment industry also made an appearance including Emilia Clarke, who took home an award for woman of the year. The Game of Thrones actress attended the show wearing a stunning, short and decorated red dress.

Other fashion statements were made by Kate Moss, who actually skipped the main award show and instead attended a GQ after-party at Matthew Freud’s London home. The English model impressed with a leopard-print-coat complete with stilettos and statement earrings. Jourdan Dunn also impressed with a sexy and dark Hugo Boss dress.

Other fashionistas include actor Nicholas Hoult, who cleaned up well in a classic suit while rock icon Keith Richards appeared in his usual black suit jacket and t-shirt combo with dark jeans.
