LOS ANGELES May 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Aldis Hodge is a man of many interests.
Hodge played both the clarinet and the violin as a child, but after purchasing his first violin at the age of 18, he turned his focus to that instrument.
In addition to acting, Hodge designs watches, writes, paints and attends the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, although he does take breaks from attending full time due to his acting work.
The actor is best known for his role as Alec Hardison on TNT’s highly rated television series, “Leverage.” Hodge won the role of Hardison on his 21st birthday.
In 2010, he received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Television for his role on “Leverage” (2008).
Hodge just finished production on the Amazon pilot, “The After,” from X-Files creator Chris Carter.
In addition Hodge has a recurring role on AMC’s “Turn: Washington’s Spies.”
Most recently, Hodge appeared on the big screen starring in the Universal feature, “Straight Outta Compton” with Paul Giamatti and O’Shea Jackson Jr.
Hodge can also be seen in the Fox Searchlight eco-terrorism thriller “The East,” co-starring Alexander Skarsgard, Ellen Page, Patricia Clarkson and Brit Marling.
Hodge’s newest project, “Underground,” has been getting rave reviews. The TV series focuses on a group of slaves who escape from a Georgia plantation and undertake a 600-mile trek to safety.
Along the way, they are aided by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad as they attempt to evade the people charged with bringing them back, dead or alive.
“Underground” has shattered viewership records on WGN America and has been officially renewed for a second season. The series was recently honored at the White House with a screening and panel discussion as part of Black History Month.
In an exclusive interview with Gephardt Daily entertainment editor Tony Toscano, Hodge chats about his experiences with the show and fellow cast members.
