LOS ANGELES, May 27 (UPI) — “Alien: Covenant” gave fans a first glimpse of Katherine Waterston on Thursday.
The “Prometheus” sequel released a behind-the-scenes photo of the 36-year-old actress on set as her character, Daniels. The shot, which is set in a spaceship, is captioned, “Nowhere to run.”
“Alien: Covenant” previously shared a glimpse of a spacesuit featuring a patch from the fictional Weyland-Yutani Corporation. The sinister company was first referenced in the 1979 movie “Alien.”
“Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant” take place in the same universe as “Alien” and its sequels, but are not direct prequels or sequels to the film. “Prometheus” opened in 2012, while “Alien: Covenant” is slated for release Aug. 4, 2017.
“Alien” and “Prometheus” director Ridley Scott is also helming “Alien: Covenant.” The movie will see the crew of the spaceship Covenant explore a planet inhabited by the synthetic David (Michael Fassbender), who survived the Prometheus expedition.
“They’re going to go to the planet where the engineers came from, and come across the evolving creature that they had made,” Scott told The Wrap in December.
Waterston is known for “Inherent Vice” and will star in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” with Eddie Redmayne. A new “Alien” sequel featuring original star Sigourney Weaver is also in the works with director Neill Blomkamp.
