LOS ANGELES, Calif., Jan. 11, 2016 (UPI) — Amy Schumer and new boyfriend Ben Hanisch are in love.

The 34-year-old actress acknowledged as much to People magazine at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, saying, “We’re in love and it’s really exciting.”

Schumer, who went public with her relationship last week, discussed the hype with Entertainment Tonight, joking, “Apparently having a boyfriend is the biggest accomplishment of the year for me.”

“I also wrote a movie I starred in,” she said of Trainwreck. “I’m really proud of that, I worked on gun violence, but yeah, someone has agreed to have sex with me. You know, I’ve been able to keep my other little relationships under wraps. But yeah, we’re happy.”

Schumer took Hanisch to see President Barack Obama‘s speech on gun control at the White House on Jan. 5, and brought him to the Golden Globes ceremony. The couple didn’t walk the red carpet together, but the actress did share a photo with her beau prior to the event.

Schumer was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for Trainwreck, but lost to friend and fellow actress Jennifer Lawrence in Joy. The 25-year-old Hunger Games star told reporters she was shocked to beat Schumer for the award.

“She’s gonna be fine,” Lawrence said of the actress. “It wasn’t a matter of feeling bad, because she’s funny and hilarious and will win many things. I really expected Amy to win, so this was very truly surprising for me. I was just really surprised.”

Schumer and Lawrence will play sisters in a forthcoming comedy and recently completed a first draft of the script. The former will return on her Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer in the spring, while Lawrence will next star in X-Men: Apocalypse.
