LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1 (UPI) — Val Chmerkovskiy shed “happy tears” for “Dancing with the Stars” partner Laurie Hernandez, saying he didn’t “want to blow it for her.”

“It’s crazy how fast life moves. Laurie, she brings the joy in everything. I just don’t want to blow it for her,” Chmerkovskiy said through tears during rehearsals. “For me, by sharing it with her, it lives on forever.”

Hernandez, in an attempt to cheer him up, suggested he eat some spaghetti.

“I’m not upset, I’m happy. I’m really happy. These are happy tears,” he said. “I want to be good to you, for you and make this a great, great experience for you, always, because you deserve it.”

The duo earned a perfect score for Monday night’s Viennese Waltz, which was set to the tune of “Pure Imagination” from “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”
