LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2 (UPI) — Recently deceased actor Anton Yelchin left no will behind before his death and now his parents, Victor and Irina Yelchin, are attempting to gain control of his estate.

Victor and Irina filed probate papers on July 29 in Los Angeles, according to documents obtained by People magazine.

The documents show that Anton, who was unmarried and had no children, left behind $741,000 in equity on his home and had $641,000 in cash and personal property.

Anton died in June after he was pinned by his own SUV at his Studio City, Calif., home after leaving the vehicle parked in neutral on a fairly steep incline.

“To all of you who have sent flowers and gifts, for your condolences and kind words and to all who came to celebrate the life of our … son, Anton. We are deeply grateful for your unconditional love … He would be surprised at how many hearts and souls he touched. Thank you very much, Irina & Viktor Yelchin,” his parents said in a statement at the time.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee that struck the “Star Trek” star was the same model that Fiat Chrysler had recalled in April for a possible transmission issue. This spurred a police investigation into the matter following his death.

The Yelchins also plan on filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the automaker and will hold a press conference soon in which they will release a statement on the matter and answer questions.
