May 5 (UPI) — Ariel Winter fired back at critics on Instagram who slammed a low-cut dress she wore to a “Modern Family” panel.

“Why TF does anyone care that I didn’t dress casual like everyone else for the panel?” the actress wrote Wednesday. “Why do I have to be like everyone else.”

“Why can’t people just let other people feel good about themselves and do what they want?” she continued. “WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT PEOPLE! As long as you feel good about yourself that’s what matters. I know I did. Don’t ever let anyone stifle who you are and how you express yourself. Rant over :)”

Winter was seen wearing a plunging mini dress to the panel. Some critics found the dress to be too revealing while the rest of the “Modern Family” cast was wearing more casual attire.

The event featured the 19-year-old, who portrays Alex Dunphy on the ABC sitcom, crediting her co-stars Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara for being supportive and for boosting her confidence throughout her career.

“I was surrounded by so many great people that were really supportive of me and really, you know, wanted me to thrive. And told me all the time that they believed in me and thought I should be confident,” she said.
