Feb. 7 (UPI) — Barack Obama is enjoying his vacation to the fullest, learning how to kitesurf alongside Virgin founder Richard Branson while staying at the billionaire’s luxury island in the Caribbean with Michelle Obama.

The former Commander in Chief, according to Bronson’s blog, has taken up the water sport after being told by the Secret Service 8 years ago that he wouldn’t be allowed to surf while serving as president.

“So it was tremendous to offer him the chance to learn to kitesurf. The sport has really taken off in the past decade and we have the perfect conditions and team to help anyone learn,” Bronson wrote alongside photos and a video of the pair’s time together out in the sun.

Bronson decided to try his hand at riding a foilboard and challenged Obama to see who could master their respective sport first.

“As you can see in the video, Barack and I both fell many times, but we kept trying again and again and made progress over the days,” Branson said in the post, before detailing who won.

“We were neck and neck until the last run on the last day, when I got up on the foilboard and screamed along for over 50 meters, three feet above the water,” he wrote.

“I was feeling very pleased with myself, only to look over and see Barack go 100 meters on his kiteboard! I had to doff my cap to him and celebrate his victory.”
