LOS ANGELES, Feb. 24 (UPI) — “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be rated R when it becomes available on blu-ray later this year.
Releasing in theaters with a PG-13 rating, the DC comics superhero epic will be receiving the rated R tag for its Ultimate Edition home entertainment release, according to filmratings.com.
The official filling by the Motion Picture Association of America notes that the home release version of the film is receiving an R rating for featuring “sequences of violence.”
The news comes after the success of 20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool” which has earned over $235 million nationwide with an R rating.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens in theaters Mar. 25.
