SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – OCTOBER 1, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Nicholas Brendon, who co-starred in the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, was arrested in Saratoga Springs, New York, Wednesday when he apparently choked his girlfriend after a fight, according to police.

“Last night around 11:30 p.m., we got called to a nice family-owned hotel in town for a reported domestic disturbance,” said Bob Jillson, Investigations Lieutenant at Saratoga Springs Police Department, People.com is reporting.

“We got to the room and we found a 33-year-old female there by herself, and she reported that she had been in a domestic incident with Nick, and he had subsequently left before we got there. She did not have any physical injuries that we were aware of.”

The woman told police she had gone to the hotel to give Brendon some personal belongings. When she attempted to leave, he allegedly took her car keys and smashed her cell phone in an attempt to get her to stay. Officers found Brendon a few blocks away from the hotel.

People.com additionally reported, Brendon, 44, spent the night in jail and was charged with two counts of criminal mischief and one count of obstruction of breathing, which are misdemeanors. He was also charged with robbery in the third degree, which is a felony.

The arrest is the latest in a series of difficult incidents for Brendon this year. The police have been called to Brendon’s home on two occasions in recent days to respond to unspecified mental health issues.

Brendon was previously arrested three times this year and in June entered rehab for substance abuse, depression and alcoholism.

On Aug. 26, the troubled actor taped a segment on Dr. Phil, where he was to discuss his mental health and addiction issues, but he was quick to walk off set during the taping when he did not appreciate the questioning during his interview.

“My illnesses and addictions are a daily struggle for me, and I am committed to working on them for the rest of my life,” Brendon wrote on his Facebook page after walking out of the taping. “A big part of that is focusing on positivity. I’m the first to admit I’ve messed up, a lot, and I’ve hurt people I care about and who care about me.”

Brendon is best known for playing Xander on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” from 1996 to 2003. He split from his wife, Moonda Tee, in February.
