July 21 (UPI) — Celebrities reacted on social media Thursday after news broke of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington’s death.
Rihanna, OneRepublic, Justin Timberlake and Paramore singer Hayley Williams were among the stars to mourn Bennington’s apparent suicide at age 41.
“Literally the most impressive talent I’ve ever seen live! Vocal beast! #RIPChester #LinkinPark,” Rihanna wrote on Instagram.
“Oh dear God. Massive R.I.P. to Chester Bennington of @linkinpark this BREAKS OUR HEART. Suicide is the devil on earth walking amongst us,” OneRepublic tweeted.
“Chester had 6 kids. If anyone out there thinks the world is better without you. You are so unspeakably wrong on every level. Get help plz,” the group added.
TMZ reported Bennington’s body was discovered before 9 a.m. Thursday at his home in Palos Verdes Estates. The singer shared three children with his wife, Talinda Bentley, and three others with previous partners.
“RIP to Chester Bennington and my sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and the Linkin Park family. Truly unique, humble frontman,” Timberlake tweeted.
“Artists are ppl compelled to bring beauty into a world that can be so dark. makes sense then that artists are always conscious of darkness..” Williams wrote. “& maybe at times made more vulnerable by it? i don’t know. life can be relentless. heart hurts for Chester’s family/band/friends/fans.”
Bennington and his Linkin Park bandmates — Bob Bourdon, Brad Delson, Mike Shinoda, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn — last released the album “One More Light” in May. The album includes the singles “Heavy” and “Talking to Myself.”
