July 15 (UPI) — Media mogul Oprah Winfrey, comic-book titan Stan Lee and theater director Julie Taymor were among the artists honored at the Disney Legends Awards on Friday.
Also recognized at the D23 Expo ceremony at California’s Anaheim Convention Center were Mark Hamill and his late “Star Wars” co-star Carrie Fisher, as well as filmmaker Garry Marshall, who died in 2016.
Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger presided over the 30th edition of the prize presentation.
Fred MacMurray — from “The Shaggy Dog,” “The Absent-Minded Professor” and “The Happiest Millionaire” — was the first person named a Disney Legend in 1987.
