LONDON, April 26 (UPI) — Daisy Ridley is training hard for Star Wars: Episode VIII.

The 24-year-old British actress showed off her lightsaber skills in a new video Monday while practicing with stunt performer Liang Yang for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens sequel.

“So @liangstunts (traitor) is wushu fricking master and I always try to get him to teach me things… This was today!!!” Ridley captioned the clip.

“Obvs not great but he’s amazing and he’s also featured at the end. Our stunt team are the most incredible group of people, so lucky I get to train with them!” she added.

Ridley played Rey in The Force Awakens and will reprise the role in Episode VIII. The character first wielded a lightsaber to take on Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) at the end ofThe Force Awakens.

Lightsabers are the signature weapon of Jedi and their Sith counterparts, although they can be used by others. Ridley previously told MTV News she isn’t sure if Rey will become a Jedi, despite the character’s strength with the Force.

“I don’t know if I am a Jedi. I don’t think I am,” the actress said. “We’ve had this debate as to whether [Carrie Fisher as] Leia is because she uses her Force powers. Just because she’s not like, ‘Oh, I’m going on an adventure,’ like Luke doesn’t make her any less Forceful.”

Star Wars: Episode VIII opens in theaters Dec. 15, 2017. The movie will be preceded by the spinoff Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which stars Felicity Jones and Diego Luna and opens Dec. 16.
