BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 18 (UPI) — Dakota Johnson says her racy role in Fifty Shades of Grey actually scares men away more often than not.
The 25-year-old actress, who also appears in Black Mass starring Johnny Depp, spoke with television host Ellen DeGeneres this week to discuss her dating life and her upcoming sequel, Fifty Shades Darker.
Johnson says after playing Anastasia Steele in the first installment of the Fifty Shades franchise, people simply treat her differently.
“Well, sometimes, people just say things that are a little bit awkward for me,” she said. “Like, I was in a cab recently, and the driver was like, ‘My wife and I, we saw your film. We really liked it.’ And he goes, ‘…I thought there could be more sex.'”
The star admitted she is also having trouble in the romance department because of the high-profile role. When asked by DeGeneres if people are more attracted, or more afraid of her after the fact, Johnson said if given those two options, she’d have to choose the latter.
“I guess they’re scared of me,” she joked. “They either love me or they’re running for the hills…Mostly running for the hills.”
The actress revealed she will start filming for Fifty Shades Darker sometime next year. Johnson’s Black Mass debuted in theaters Thursday.
