“Deadliest Catch” Star Tony Lara Dead At 50

STURGIS, S.D., Aug. 11 (Wade Sheridan) — Tony Lara, star of Discovery’s hit reality show Deadliest Catch, died Saturday morning in Sturgis, S.D., authorities reported.

The 50-year-old ship captain of the Cornelia Marie was found at a private residence in Sturgis.

Meade County Sheriff Ron Merwin told reporters that he is still waiting on autopsy results to help determine the cause of death.

Lara was a veteran crab catcher who worked on the Cornelia Marie for 10 years in the 1990s and ran the ship during salmon tendering.
