HOLLYWOOD, June 3 (UPI) — One of the most colorful personalities in NBA history wasn’t at a loss for words when he heard news of Bruce Jenner’s transformation into Caitlyn Jenner.

In fact, Dennis Rodman asked her on a date.

“If you wanna go on a date with me brotha, let me know,” Rodman told TMZ.

Rodman posed for a 1995 Sports Illustrated cover in women’s clothes.

“I’m so proud of the fact that people are not really coming down hard on him where he can’t walk around and show his face,” Rodman told TMZ. “That’s the most important thing.”

Rodman wrote in his book about wearing women’s clothes as a child. He frequently wore women’s clothes throughout his adult life as well.

“As a kid I would sometimes dress up as a girl,” Rodman wrote. “You play house, you play doctor, everybody does that. But some people make it more than others. I used to go through the whole routine, dress up, wear makeup, act like a girl.”

Jenner opened a Twitter account Monday and already has 2.3 million followers.

Rodman tweeted in support of Jenner Monday when he said: “I’ve got nothing but love for my girl Caitlyn Jenner. Be you honey.”

Rodman averaged 7.3 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in his 14-year NBA career.
