Early Box Office Report
Universal Pictures is singing the praises of “Pitch Perfect 2,” which looks like it’s taking in a whopping $50 million dollars domestically it’s premiere weekend (which includes late screenings on Thursday night). If ticket sales hold through Sunday, the sequel is on track to earn $69 million for the weekend.
Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Mad Max: Fury Road” has a strong second-place footing and experts are estimating a $43 million take domestically.
“The Avengers: Age of Ultron” might put another $37.9 million into Marvel Studio’s pocketbook. The superhero film passed the $1 billion dollar mark worldwide on Friday.
The Reese Witherspoon comedy, “Hot Pursuit” is estimated to wind up in 4th place this weekend with $19.5 million in ticket sales.
And “The Age of Adaline” brought home an estimated additional $3 million this weekend taking in a grand total of just under $35 million in it’s run.
Again, these are early estimates and some tallies could change.
