Filmmaker Paul Quinn, Brother of Actor Aidan Quinn, Dead at 55

NEW YORK, Sept. 6 (UPI) — Actor, writer and director Paul Quinn has died at his home in New York after a long battle with cancer. He was 55.

Variety said it has confirmed his Wednesday death.

Quinn is best known for helming episodes of TV’s Scrubs, as well as the 1998 Irish drama This Is My Father, which starred his brother Aidan and featured cinematography by their sibling Declan.

Quinn’s second feature film, 2002’s Never Get Outta the Boat, was celebrated on the film-festival circuit and his most recent work, Good Ol’ Boy, is to debut in competition at the 2015 Woodstock Film Festival.

As an actor who trained at Chicago’s Piven Theater Workshop, Quinn had small roles in the movies Leaving Las Vegas, Bob Roberts and Avalon. He was also a founding member of New Crime Productions along with John Cusack, Steve Pink, Jeremy Piven and others.

Quinn is survived by his wife, Patrice; his father, Michael; brothers Aidan, Declan and Robert; and sister, Marian.
