SECELT, British Columbia May 5, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Former child actor Deleriyes Joe Cramer, who performed under the name Joey Cramer, has been arrested and charged with robbing a bank in British Columbia, Canada, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cramer, who starred in the Disney film, “Flight of the Navigator,” was arrested on May 1 following the robbery on the Scotiabank in Sechelt on April 28.

The story, which originally was printed in The Coast Reporter, says the 42-year-old is alleged to have held up the bank wearing a disguise comprised of a bandana and a shoulder-length wig.

According to documents filed, the former child star has been charged with the robbery, as well as ‘wearing a disguise with the intent to commit an indictable offense, failing to stop for a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.’

The latter two offenses stemming from Cramer’s attempt to make a getaway.

“Despite the fact that a disguise was used during the robbery, the suspect was quickly identified by some of our officers, who had recently dealt with him on an unrelated matter,” said Constable Harrison Mohr with the Sunshine Coast Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Const. Harrison Mohr with Sunshine Coast RCMP told the Coast Reporter the robbery occurred at Scotiabank on Teredo Street at about 3 p.m. Officers were on scene within minutes but the suspect had already fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The detachment’s serious crimes section was brought in to investigate, along with the RCMP’s Integrated Forensic Identification Section from the Lower Mainland.

Mohr said the incident was “a very frightening experience” for the staff and customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery. “Fortunately no one was injured, and bank robberies are an extremely rare occurrence here on the Sunshine Coast,” Mohr said.

He would not say whether a weapon was used in the robbery.

Const. Mohr added, “We can’t comment on any weapon at this time, other than to confirm no one was injured and no physical violence occurred.”

This is not Cramer’s first run-in with the law. There were reports that Cramer had previous legal troubles, which include cashing fake checks in 2011.

Vancouver-born Cramer’s career never really took off despite the success of “Flight of the Navigator.” He did some guest work on “Murder She Wrote,” but his only other major credits were 1986’s “The Clan Of The Cave Bear,” which starred Darryl Hannah, and the TV movie “Stone Fox.”
