LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5 (UPI) — Hayley Atwell isn’t ready to say goodbye to Agent Peggy Carter just yet.

The ABC show “Agent Carter,” based on the character from the Marvel universe, was not renewed for a third season.

Atwell, who first played Carter alongside Chris Evans’ Captain America in “The First Avenger,” said that she’s more than willing to take on the role again.

“That’s something that I would be very happy to go back to, if the opportunity came,” Atwell said Thursday while speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour.

“I don’t feel like I’ve said goodbye to her because she does still seem to live on a lot for a lot of the fans,” she said. “I would absolutely not rule out the idea of going back to Peggy at some point or seeing her in other avenues. I love her and I hope that she has a life elsewhere another time.”

In the meantime, Atwell is taking on a new role at ABC by starring in the upcoming series “Conviction,” playing Hayes Morrison, a former first daughter who sheds her party girl past to become an attorney who takes on wrongful conviction cases.

“Conviction” premieres on the network on Oct. 3 at 10 p.m.
