June 28 (UPI) — Hugh Jackman plays Barnum & Bailey Circus founder P.T. Barnum in a first trailer for “The Greatest Showman.”

The forthcoming movie musical released a preview Wednesday that features Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.

The trailer follows Barnum as he pursues his dream of building a circus after losing his desk job. He tells a potential performer the point of his show is that “every one of us is special — and nobody is like anyone else.”

“The Greatest Showman” is directed by Australian director Michael Gracey, and features songs by American songwriting duo Pasek and Paul. American composer John Debney composed the score.

“We were clear from the beginning that this wouldn’t feel like a period movie or a historical piece,” Jackman said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published in May.

“What would Barnum do now? I have an almost-12-year-old daughter. I wanted [the film] to be as exciting for her as listening to Katy Perry‘s new song,” the actor added.

“The Greatest Showman” opens in theaters Dec. 25.
