‘Inside Out’ Sweeps The Annie Awards For Excellence In Animation

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Feb. 8, 2016 (UPI) — Inside Out was declared 2015’s Best Animated Feature at the 43rd annual Annie Awards Saturday evening at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

The Pixar blockbuster also scored the prizes for Outstanding Music, Editing, Production Design, Writing, Directing and Voice Acting for Phyllis Smith.

Man and Dog was named Best Animated Television/Broadcast Commercial and He Named Me Malala earned the accolade for Best Animated Special Program.

The Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Children honor went to the episode of Wander Over Yonder called “The Breakfast” and the Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Preschool Children title was bestowed upon theTumble Leaf installment named “Mirror.”

“The Annies are drawing more attention from both our industry and the general motion-picture industry,” ASIFA-Hollywood Executive Director Frank Gladstone said in a statement Sunday. “We wait all year for this event and it never disappoints! It was a fun evening looking back at our history and celebrating what we have accomplished over this past year.”

Presenters at the event included Edward James Olmos, Rita Moreno, Tom Kenny, Laraine Newman, Alexander Garfin, Hadley Belle Miller, Kristen Schaal, Christophe Beck, Phyllis Smith, Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson.
