LOS ANGELES, March 7 (UPI) — Jada Pinkett Smith has responded to Chris Rock‘s Oscars diss centered around the actresses boycotting of the awards show.
“It comes with the territory, sweetheart,” Pinkett said to photographers while walking through Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday.
“We got a lot of stuff we gotta handle, a lot of stuff going on in our world right now. We gotta keep it moving,” she continued.
Rock slammed the Gotham star during the 88th Academy Awards after she decided to boycott the ceremony for its lack of diversity among its nominees.
“Jada said she’s not coming. I was like, ‘Isn’t she on a TV show?’ Jada’s gonna boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna‘s panties. I wasn’t invited,” Rock joked during his opening monologue before moving onto her husband Will Smith.
“It’s not fair that Will was this good and didn’t get nominated,” he said of the actor’s role in Concussion. “It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West!”
Smith will next be seen reprising her role as Fish Mooney in a multi-episode arc during the second half of Gotham Season 2.
