SHERMAN OAKS, CALIFORNIA – SEPTEMBER 29, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Cathriona White, the 30-year-old girlfriend of actor Jim Carrey, was found dead Monday in a residence in Sherman Oaks, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office according to The Hollywood Reporter.
White was found by a friend in the home located in the 1500 block of Briarwood Drive, according to the coroner’s office and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:40 p.m.
An announcement on the cause of death is pending an autopsy, but assistant chief coroner Ed Winter tells The Hollywood Reporter pills were found next to White’s body.
A suicide note was also found. According to Winter, the note is either addressed to Carrey or references him by name.
Carrey issued a statement through his publicist: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”
White and Carrey began dating in 2012 but broke up shortly thereafter. The couple was seen together again in May, reportedly attempting a reconciliation.
White posted her last tweet on Sept. 24, in which she wrote, “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.”
