LOS ANGELES, Oct. 21 (UPI) — Olivia Newton-John met Julianne Hough on Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars.
The 67-year-old British-Australian singer served as a guest judge on the ABC reality competition, and spent time with the 27-year-old American dancer during the show.
Newton-John portrayed Sandy Olsson in the 1978 movie Grease, and Hough will play the character in Fox’s forthcoming Grease: Live. The dancer shared the moment with fans by posting a photo with Newton-John on Instagram.
“Last night I got to meet @therealonj and it was one of the greatest moments ever,” she gushed. “I’ve been a hopelessly devoted fan of hers (see what I did there?) since the very time I saw Grease, and I am so honored to play Sandy, January 31st live on Fox.”
Grease is based on the 1971 musical of the same name, and takes place in 1958. The story follows shy Sandy’s romance with greaser Danny, who was portrayed by John Travolta in the movie and will be played by Aaron Tveit in Grease: Live.
Newton-John will reportedly play Principal McGee in Grease: Live, which airs Jan. 31, 2016. The singer watched Hayes Grier and Emma Slater score a 32 (out of 40) with their Grease-inspired routine, while three couples, including Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough, earned perfect 40s.
