July 29 (UPI) — Veteran broadcast journalist Katie Couric confirmed she has left Yahoo!, where she worked as global news anchor since 2013.

“I’m very proud of my time at Yahoo,” Couric said in a statement to the New York Post, “anchoring live events, political coverage, and breaking news with a team of very talented journalists … I learned some valuable lessons during my tenure, which I will take with me.”

“Over the last four years, Katie has created a vast portfolio of work that has been equal parts inspiring, thought provoking and fun to watch,” the company — which was recently bought by Verizon — told The Hill. “We’re proud of everything she has accomplished and look forward to exploring ways to work together in the future.”

The Hill said Couric’s interviews did not generate the amount of attention the company had hoped.

People magazine said Couric’s annual $10 million contract expired in March, but was extended until June.

Couric reportedly plans to continue working with the company on a project basis.
