LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20 (UPI) — Singer Kelly Clarkson made a surprise announcement Wednesday night, sharing with thousands the news of her second pregnancy.
While performing “Piece by Piece” at her concert at the Los Angeles Staples Center, Clarkson said “I wasn’t planning on announcing,” before losing her composure and giggling. “Totally pregnant,” she said.
Clarkson is already the mother of one — a 14-month-old named River Rose — with husband Brandon Blackstock.
The song that prompted the announcement is an ode to both her own father and Blackstock for being a good dad. Clarkson reportedly turned emotional and said she was “having a hard time,” getting through the song.
The audience reacted with screams of excitement at the news, causing Clarkson to become even more giddy.
“That was not how I wanted to announce that…I hate this song right now,” she joked. “I just don’t want you to think I’m on pills or drunk.”
Before covering Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer,” Clarkson made a last comment: “I’m so nervous to talk to my husband…We haven’t even told our [extended]!”
