CALABASA, Calif., Aug. 29 (UPI) — Rapper Tyga and reality star Kylie Jenner were recently cited for wasting water at their lavish homes in Calabasas.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Las Virgenes Municipal Water District cited the two for excessive water use. Additional violations in the area have also been committed by David Hasselhoff, Dr. Dre and Denise Richards.
A representative for Hasselhoff said the actor received a citation for using water on the wrong day, adding that it was an oversight and the matter has now been addressed.
Initial citations yield a $100 fine, which goes up to $500 after the fourth offense. Water supply to a non-compliant residence is cut off after five citations.
David Pedersen, the general manager of the LVWMD, which serves Calabasas and Hidden Hills, said he has reached out to celebrities in the district through personally written letters.
One of these letters was addressed to West.
Meanwhile, the agency has hired private security firm Dial Security to help it patrol and penalize residents in order to help the agency reach a 36 percent water use reduction by next February. The Hollywood Reporter’s request for an observation of the firm’s method of finding lawbreakers was denied, as the company said it does not want its own inspection work to be monitored.
Residents are only allowed 15 minutes of outdoor water use two days a week. In Jenner’s neighborhood, however, nearly 70 percent of water is used to water lawns.
Jenner’s $2.6 million home has been hit with two violations this summer. The news comes after Kim Kardashian West’s publicist said the reality star doesn’t mind letting her lawn go brown. However, a recent flyover still shows green pastures.
