LOS ANGELES, May 31 (UPI) — Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter or Johnny Depp, has taken to social media to defend her father amid allegations of abuse.
“My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know,” Lily-Rose wrote on Instagram Sunday alongside a throwback photo of Depp holding his daughter.
“He’s been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same,” she continued.
The post comes days after Johnny’s estranged wife Amber Heard was granted a restraining order against the actor after accusing him of domestic violence on Friday in court after filing for divorce on Monday. The 52-year-old is required to stay 100 yards away from Heard until a court hearing in June.
Heard claims Johnny attacked her while “high and drunk,” presenting photos in court of injuries she obtained including one which highlighted a red mark around her right eye.
Lily-Rose also posted on Instagram a photo featuring an article from People magazine stating that police found no evidence of domestic violence when they were called to the pair’s estate.
Before the restraining order was granted, a rep for the “Alice Through the Looking Glass” star noted, “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”
Johnny’s friend, comedian Doug Stanhope, also came to the actor’s defense penning an article for The Wrap in which he stated that Johnny was being falsely accused and manipulated by Heard. Responding to the article, Heard’s lawyer Peter Sample proclaimed that the allegations against his client were “absolutely and unequivocally false and “has no basis in reality and is nothing but the typical celebrity muckraking for profit.”
Depp and Heard married in February 2015 after dating for almost two years. Heard is seeking spousal support. They didn’t have a pre-nuptial agreement.
