Members Of Tom Cruise Movie Crew Killed In Plane Crash, Actor Not Aboard

MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA – September 12, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Members of a movie crew working with Tom Cruise have been killed in a Colombian plane crash. The actor was not on the plane at the time of the crash.

According to Colombian authorities, Los Angeles-based film production pilot Alan Purwin, and Colombian film crew member Carlos Bert, died in the mountain crash. An American pilot, identified as Jimmy Lee Garland, was critically injured.

The production team had just wrapped up shooting Cruise’s latest movie, “Mena,” based on the life of Medellin drug cartel boss Pablo Escobar.

Universal Studios released a brief statement acknowledging the crash. “On behalf of the production, our hearts and prayers go out to the crew members and their families at this difficult time.”

Purwin was a renowned pilot with a long list of impressive credits in the film industry, including “Airwolf,” “Jurassic World,” “Indecent Proposal” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”
