OTTAWA, May 19 (UPI) — Michael Buble has taken to social media to announce that he will be undergoing vocal chord surgery, forcing him to cancel a pair of upcoming performances.
“To my fans, I wanted to let you know that I am bowing out of some upcoming events due to pending vocal cord surgery which will require a period of time for me to rest and recover. No talking or singing for awhile but my doctors expect a complete recovery,” Buble wrote on Facebook Wednesday alongside a photo of himself posing with a microphone stand.
“I am especially sorry about two events that I will now be unable to attend,” he continued. “I was scheduled to be honored at the Canadian Governor General’s Performing Arts Award Gala on June 11th. It will now be celebrated at next year’s 25th Anniversary Gala on June 29, 2017. In addition, I will no longer be performing at the Marvin Gaye Tribute at the Kennedy Center on June 5th.”
“Thank you in advance for your prayers and good wishes. I’ll keep you up to date on my progress.”
Buble is the latest singer to undergo vocal cord surgery, following Adele, Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor, who recently described her time spent without being able to speak as a “nightmare.”
Back in January, Buble welcomed his second son, Elias, with wife Luisana Lopilato. The couple were already parents to 2-year-old Noah.
