LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10 (UPI) — Michael Bublé and Luisana Lopilato’s 3-year-old son Noah is undergoing chemotherapy for liver cancer, according to Bublé’s sister-in-law Daniela Lopilato.

“Cancer is a horrible illness but we have faith in Noah being able to overcome this,” Daniela told Argentinian magazine Gente. “We know he will. The time to start a long and very difficult treatment has come, but it’s got to be done.”

Luisana reportedly took Noah to a hospital in Buenos Aires due to a high fever.

After “exhaustive” testing, an abdominal ultrasound showed an abnormality with Noah’s liver. The couple traveled back to Los Angeles for a second opinion where doctors confirmed the cancer diagnosis.

“They say children are normally strong to put up with chemotherapy and my nephew is a warrior,” Daniela said.

Gente reported that Noah has already started treatments, which are scheduled to last four months.

“He has the innocence of children and that is good,” Daniela said. “He doesn’t understand too much what is happening. The love people are showing is helping us to see things with optimism and we have a lot of faith.”

Bublé released a statement last week confirming the cancer diagnosis but did not provide particulars. The singer announced he and Lopilato, who are also parents to 9-month-old Elias, have put their careers on hold to focus their attention on Noah’s health.
