KYOTO, Japan, Oct. 20 (UPI) — Nintendo has revealed their next console, the Nintendo Switch.

Introduced Thursday as part of a first-look trailer, the Switch, which was previously codenamed the NX, is a hybrid gaming machine that works both at home and on the go.

“Introducing Nintendo Switch! In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose,” reads the trailer’s official description.

“The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles,” it continues.

Resembling a tablet, the Switch can be taken on the go and played using detachable controllers named Joy-Cons that form a more traditional controller when it is plugged into a television at home using a dock.

The Joy-Cons can be taken off when used outside in order to rest the Switch on a stand which then allows for multiplayer gaming.

Titles on display during the trailer included a new 3D Mario game, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” “NBA 2K17, Skyrim: Definitive Edition” and what appears to be updated versions of the Wii U’s “Mario Kart 8” and “Splatoon.”

No price point was given for the Nintendo Switch however it will be released in March 2017.
