LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10 (UPI) — Undefeated UFC superstar Ronda Rousey confirmed Tuesday she will be starring in MGM’s reboot of the 1980s cult classic Road Hose.

Variety reported exclusively that the studio is currently meeting with screenwriters and plans to begin production in 2016.

Rousey will be playing the lead, a role made famous by the late Patrick Swayze who originally stared as a bouncer hired to clean up one of worst bars in Missouri, The Double Deuce.

The UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion discussed the news on Twitter assuring Swayze fans that they will not be disappointed.

“It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many,” Rousey tweeted. “I couldn’t be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze…I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute to his family and [something] fans can be proud of.”

Rousey has previously appeared in The Expendables 3, Furious 7 and Entourage.

In August, Rousey stirred up fans when she admitted in a Reddit ask me anything session that she would like to play superhero Ms. Marvel in a potential Marvel film. Since then fans have tweeted the MMA fighter artist renditions of how she might appear as the character in costume.

Ronda Rousey was last seen in a UFC ring in August when she beat challenger Bethe Correia in 34 seconds. Rousey’s next opponent will be Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Nov. 14.
