LOS ANGELES, March 29 (UPI) — Hollywood actor Sean Astin remembered his late mom Patty Duke as a “beloved” woman and “exquisite artist.”

The Oscar-winning star of The Miracle Worker died early Tuesday of sepsis from a ruptured intestine. She was 69.

“This morning, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, matriarch and the exquisite artist, humanitarian, and champion for mental health, Anna PATTY DUKE Pearce, closed her eyes, quieted her pain and ascended to a beautiful place,” Astin wrote in a Facebook post on behalf of his family.

“We celebrate the infinite love and compassion she shared through her work and throughout her life. Her work endures…”
