NEW YORK, Aug. 10 (UPI) — Seth Rogen is weighing in on Katherine Heigl‘s criticism of “Knocked Up.”
The 34-year-old actor addressed the controversy on “The Howard Stern Show” Monday, more than eight years after Heigl famously called the movie “a little sexist” in a Vanity Fair interview.
“I thought we had a great dynamic,” Rogen said. “We were funny together. I was having a really good time, and then I heard afterward that she didn’t like it, that she seemed not to like the process, and she did not like the end product either.”
“I think when that happens … your trust feels somewhat betrayed,” he admitted. “We have a very open process. You have the ability to say something at any moment: ‘I don’t like this scene. I don’t like how I’m coming across here.'”
Heigl, who played Rogen’s love interest in the 2007 comedy, had told Vanity Fair the film paints women as “shrews, humorless and uptight” while portraying men as “lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys.” The actress told Stern in April that she now considers her remarks “dumb.”
“I liked the movie a lot,” she said. “I just didn’t like me. [My] character was kind of like, she was so judgmental and kind of uptight and controlling and all these things, and I really went with it while we were doing it.”
Heigl, who later left “Grey’s Anatomy” under ambiguous circumstances, faced widespread backlash for her comments on “Knocked Up.” Rogen told Stern it was “crazy” for the public to have attacked the actress for her remarks.
