LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7 (UPI) — Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson are in talks to team up once again for a new “Shanghai Noon” sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, MGM has started development on a third entry in the action-comedy series entitled Shanghai Dawn with “Napoleon Dynamite” director Jared Hess at the helm.
Hess will be working with writers Miles Millar and Alfred Gough who wrote 2000’s “Shanghai Noon” and its 2003 London-based sequel, “Shanghai Knights.” Dawn’s script will be penned by Theodore Riley and Aaron Buchsbaum
The original Wild West set film starred Chan as an Imperial Guard who enlists the help of an outlaw played by Wilson in order to save a Chinese princess.
Wilson worked with Hess recently in upcoming heist-comedy “Masterminds” which also stars Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis.
Chan made headlines recently when it was announced he would be receiving an honorary Oscar at the Academy’s 8th Annual Governors Awards set to be held in November.
