LOS ANGELES, July 20 (UPI) — Shannon Doherty, who has publicly acknowledged her battle with breast cancer, shaved her head in a series of photos she posted on Instagram.
In the photos, she shows the process she is going through and her new, very short hair style.
Under the photos, fans from around the world posted words of support.
Doherty announced her diagnosis in August 2015. Her accounting firm had failed to pay her health insurance premiums causing her coverage to lapse. She sued them as a result. She learned after getting insurance coverage back that she had “invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node.
“Yes, I have breast cancer, and I am currently undergoing treatment,” the 44-year-old star of “Beverly Hills 90210” said when announcing the news of her cancer.
“I am continuing to eat right, exercise and stay very positive about my life,” she added. “I am thankful to my family, friends and doctors for their support and, of course, my fans who have stood by me.”
