LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15 (UPI) — Sonequa Martin-Green will play the lieutenant commander of the titular spaceship on “Star Trek: Discovery.”
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the casting news, which has not yet been officially announced.
Despite her new job, Entertainment Weekly said the actress will continue to appear as a series regular on “The Walking Dead” where she has played Sasha since Season 3.
CBS All Access recently announced Doug Jones will play Lt. Saru, a Starfleet science officer and a new alien species to the “Star Trek” universe on “Discovery,” while Michelle Yeoh will portray Captain Georgiou, the Starfleet captain aboard the Starship Shenzhou.
Anthony Rapp has been cast as Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist, fungus expert and Starfleet science officer aboard the Starship Discovery, and Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo have been revealed as the show’s new generation of Klingons.
The 13-episode series is to debut in May.
