‘Split’ is the No. 1 movie in North America with $40M

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22, 2017 (UPI) — The horror movie “Split” is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $40.2 million in receipts, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” with $20 million, followed by “Hidden Figures” at No. 3 with $16.3 million, “Sing” at No. 4 with $9 million and “La La Land” at No. 5 with $8.4 million.

Rounding out the top tier are “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” at No. 6 with $7.04 million, “Monster Trucks” at No. 7 with $7 million, “Patriots Day” at No. 8 with $6 million, “The Founder” at No. 9 with $3.76 million and “Sleepless” at No. 10 with $3.7 million.
