“Still Alice”

Still Alice - Gephardt DailyRated: PG-13

Running Time: 101 Minutes

Toscano’s Take:

In wide release this week Julianne Moore, Kate Bosworth and Kristen Stewart star in “Still Alice”

“Still Alice” tells the story of Alice, a professor diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 50.

This is an intimate and intricate family drama and one of the years best films.

I definitely hope to see Kristen Stewart at least mentioned at this year’s Oscar Nominations. Especially Julianne Moore for her incredibly touching and real portrayal of Alice.

Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children, is a renowned linguistics professor who starts to forget words. When she receives a devastating diagnosis, Alice and her family find their bonds tested. Her struggle to stay connected to who she once was is frightening, heartbreaking, and inspiring.

There is already talk of a Oscar Nomination for Julianne Moore. She talked about how Alzheimer’s doesn’t present in any particular way. people with Alzheimer’s look just like everybody else.

The film is based on the best selling book and tells the story of  more than 5.2 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s Disease, 2 thousand have early-onset which can strike as young as your 30’s. This film brings a new understanding to the devastating disease.

Written by Lisa Genova, who wrote the book that the movie is based on, and Richard Glatzer while it was Directed by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland.
