One of the many fantastic things about Sundance Film Festival is that there is a ski resort right in the town of Park City. Here are some FAQ about the resort. For more information go to parkcitymountain.com.

The Mountain

Q: What are the hours of operation?

A: The Resort opens at 9:00 am and lifts close at 4:00 pm. Night skiing operates while conditions permit through the last weekend in March. The PayDay, 3 Kings and First Time lifts will close at 8:00 pm.

Q: What types of tickets are available to buy?

A: An all day lift ticket provides lift access from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (8:00 pm when night skiing is operating), while a half-day ticket provides access from 12:30 – 4:00 pm. A twilight ticket provides access from 12:30 to 8:00 pm and night tickets are valid from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

Q: What is the elevation in Park City?

A: The base of the Park City Mountain Resort is 6,900 feet above sea level. The top of Jupiter Peak is 10,000 feet.

Q: What is the average snowfall at Park City Mountain Resort?

A: The 20-year average snowfall measured at the top of the Jupiter chair is 360 inches per year:

71 inches for December
73 inches for January
69 inches for February
69 inches for March
30 inches for April

Q: If I get injured, what is available.

A: The University of Utah Heath Care PCMR Urgent Care ski clinic is staffed by orthopedic and sports medicine specialists who provide care and treatment for skiing, snowboarding, and sports related injuries. If you’ve injured yourself while visiting Park City, whether skiing or otherwise, specialists are available to help.

Winter Activities

Q: If I am interested in other winter activities at Park City Mountain Resort, how can I book or make arrangements?

A: There are plenty of alternate activities including tubing, ice skating, sleigh rides and more. For information on tubing or kids’ snowmobile rides at Gorgoza Park, call 435-658-2648 or visit the Gorgoza Park web site. To book a sleigh ride on the mountain, call the Snowed Inn at 435-647-3310 or visit their web page. The Viking Yurt offers a scenic ride behind a snow cat for a special dinner experience. Q: I am a disabled skier; does Park City Mountain Resort offer any options for me?

A: Park City Mountain Resort is home to the National Ability Center. Based at Park City Mountain Resort, the National Ability Center’s alpine skiing and snowboarding program for individuals with disabilities has been rated one of the best in the country. Travel & Vacation Planning

Q: Do you have an Intermountain Lift Ticket?

A: The Silver Passport, a single lift ticket to all three resorts in the Park City area is availble from select local lodging properties with a qualifying lodging reservation.

Q: Does Park City Mountain Resort have daycare?

A: The Resort does not have on-site daycare. However, ski lessons are available for kids ages 3 & 1/2 and up if they are toilet trained.

Q: Do you need a car in Park City?

A: Guests are encouraged to use the City’s free, skier friendly Transit System. The free City Shuttle runs approximately every 20 minutes from 7:20 am until midnight during the ski season and allows easy access to the Resort along with restaurants, nightlife and shopping. Reachable locations via the free City Shuttle service include: the town of Park City, Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley, Main Street, two large grocery stores/mini-malls, medical facilities and Kimball Junction with Walmart and the Factory Outlet Stores. Q: How far away is the Salt Lake International airport from Park City?

A: Salt Lake International Airport is located 36 miles from Park City. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Park City by car, on I-80 eastbound from Salt Lake City.

Q: How can I get to Park City from the airport?

A: Rental cars, shuttles and cabs make the drive to Park City from the airport quick and easy. A convenient option is a ground transfer from the airport, via ten-person taxi vans. Various ground transfer companies are located at the baggage claim area at the airport. Reservations are highly recommended and can be handled by your lodging reservation agent or Park City Mountain Central Reservations at 800-331-3178.

Q: What is the average temperature going to be during my trip?

A: The average monthly temperature is:

These are average temperatures, so layers work best for dressing any time during the ski season. Sunscreen is strongly recommended all season long.

Snowboarding

Q: Do you allow snowboarding at Park City Mountain Resort?

A: Park City Mountain Resort allows snowboarding. In fact, our terrain parks and pipe have been highly ranked by Transworld Snowboarding magazine for many years in a row.

Q: Does your Resort have any parks or pipes?

A: Do we ever! Park City Mountain Resort is home to some of the best terrain parks and superpipe in the country, including the Eagle Superpipe, which hosted the 2002 Olympic Winter Games plus our Merril Mini halpipe. Q: Will there be new terrain features this year?

A: Yes!!!! We have over 50 fun boxes, rails and hits with lots of fun surprises in the Neff Land Terrain Park and don’t forget 3 Kings Lift serving the lighted 3 Kings Terrain Park, for everything a freerider could ask for.

Q: Who are the “Park City All-Stars”?

A: The Park City All-Stars are an elite group of nationally recognized freeriders that ride our parks everyday. They provide input on the Resort’s terrain parks and pipe that helps to keep Park City Mountain Resort the leader in the industry. This year’s lineup of Park City All-Stars include: Scotty Arnold, Stevie Bell, Aaron Biittner, Torah Bright, Dan Brisse, Erin Comstock, Sage Kotsenburg, Bode Merrill, Ashley Battersby, Joss Christensen, Tanner Hall, Alex Schlopy and Tom Wallisch.

Q: Does Park City Mountain Resort offer Snowboard lessons?

A: Yes, the Resort offers a great selection of ski and snowboard lessons in both a private and a group session.

Q: Do all of the resorts in your area allow snowboarding?

A: All but two: Deer Valley and Alta.
