Tony’s Sunday Spotlight: A Visit to Springfield and “The Simpsons”

Sunday June 28, 2015 – (Gephardt Daily) – Universal Studios Hollywood has recently expanded “The Simpson’s” ride to include the entire town of Springfield.

The town is complete with iconic places to visit, including the Kwik-E-Mart, Lard Lad Donuts and The Nuclear Power Plant (where Homer works). You can stop and grab a gourmet hamburger at the Krusty Burger or have a Flaming Moe at Moe’s Tavern.

Yes. if you’re a fan of “The Simpsons,” there’s a little slice of heaven in the middle of Universal Studios Theme Park in Hollywood.

“We’ve worked with both Fox TV, ‘Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening and Gracie Films to get this right,” says Universal Park spokesperson Natalie Ceballos. “Not only that but we’ve worked with our best chefs and designers to give our park guests exactly what they expect from a Springfield experience.”

And I will have to admit, the Krusty Burger is about the best restaurant-style burger I’ve had in long, long time. But it doesn’t stop there, there’s the iconic donuts with pink frosting and sprinkles, The Android’s Dungeon comic book shop, Luigi’s Pizza, Phineas Q. Butterfat’s 5600 flavors of ice cream, Krustylou Studios and the Duff Brewery.

And above it all the towns “Hollywood”-type sign that’s telling you that you are in “Springfield,” USA.

I really enjoyed my Springfield visit and I will be back to sample some more of the indigenous delicacies native only to this uniquely American town.
