LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (UPI) — Tara Reid promoted her new film with a startling photo Tuesday on Instagram.

The 40-year-old actress shocked fans by posting a picture of herself looking bruised and battered for her anti-bullying movie “Worthless.”

“Everyone be kind to each other. This is what bullying looks like. #Worthless,” she captioned the image.

Many social media users weren’t immediately aware that Reid’s bruises were simply makeup. Dozens of people voiced their concern in the comments, with some urging the actress to go to the police.

“Tara, please let us know you’re okay,” one fan implored.

“@tarareid what happened to u girl? Please tell me this is a joke no woman should ever be treated like that,” another wrote.

Reid had told her followers Sunday that she was shooting her “next movie ‘Worthless’ in Philadelphia.” The actress, who grew up in Wyckoff, N.J., shared her enthusiasm for the project in a tweet the next day.

“I’m so excited being back in New Jersey where I was born and raised. I’m shooting my new movie Worthless it’s an anti bulling movie,” she wrote.

Reid, who is known for the “American Pie” films, last appeared in the SyFy television movie “Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens.” In addition to “Worthless,” she is slated for “Dark Ascension” with Bruce Campbell.
