NEW YORK, Oct. 4 (UPI) — Production has begun on Marvel and Netflix’s upcoming action drama series, “The Punisher.”

On-set photos of star Jon Bernthal as the vengeful and violent vigilante courtesy of ComingSoon feature a hooded and bearded Punisher as he walks the streets of New York.

The images suggest that “The Punisher” aka Frank Castle is in hiding following the events of “Daredevil” Season 2 where he was wanted by police.

Joining Bernthal will be “Westworld” star Ben Barnes who has been cast as a series regular rumored to be criminal Bobby Saint.

Netflix has yet to announce a timeframe for when “The Punisher” will release however the streaming service recently revealed the launch date for another Marvel title “Iron Fist,” which will become available starting March 17, 2017.

“The Punisher” would most likely come after “Iron Fist” and perhaps after “The Defenders” which will feature Netflix’s staple of Marvel characters including “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist.”
