The Weeknd Releases Chilling New Video for “The Hills”

LOS ANGELES, May 27 (UPI) — After his Coachella debut of “The Hills,” singer Abel Tesfaye — aka The Weeknd — has released the corresponding video featuring a horrific car crash and a bloodied performance.

The alternative R&B singer is first seen escaping from a flipped car in the middle of an upper-class neighborhood and walking painfully to the other side to check on the ladies he drove with. He then spends most of the video walking, as if in a daze, toward an abandoned mansion as blood streams down his face.

“Who are you to judge/who are you to judge/hide your lies/girl hide your lies” he croons as he enters the mansion during the bridge. When he reaches the top floor, he walks into a crimson room with three strange occupants. The camera focuses on three women of varying ages — two of which laying seductively on a large bed — and the video ends.

“The Hills” is the artist’s first released single since the debut of “Earned It” which appeared on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack in December. The Weeknd performed “The Hills” at this year’s Coachella music festival before its official release. The video was directed by Grant Singer.
